CBMM - English

Licensed by IBAMA (Brazil's federal environmental agency), CBMM's wild fauna conservation breeding program has contributed to the understanding of Cerrado fauna like the maned wolf, American rhea, banded ant eater, Galician parrot, howler monkey and others. Technical partnerships and animal exchange programs with research institutions in Brazil and abroad are important components of the program, which started in 1986. In 1997 CBMM's breeding program adopted a selection criteria focused on endemic species threatened by extinction and has been responsible for the reproduction of hundreds of specimens of over 20 different Cerrado species.
