CBMM demonstrates its commitment to the wellbeing of employees by providing incentives for them to purchase their own home, an initiative that began in the 1970s in response to a shortage of adequate housing in Araxá. Employees may choose to use the incentive to acquire a home in one of the Company's residential estates or elsewhere.
In 1990 the House Raising Project was launched to further close the gap in home ownership. The House Raising Project is a unique partnership between the Company and the labor union that represents CBMM employees, whereby the Company prepares lots, sells them at cost and provides labor, technical and material support for construction. Employees participate by working a set minimum number of hours per month on building their home, while the labor union organizes and coordinates the activites.
