Reliability has been a priority at CBMM since the very beginning of operations. In the early '90s, the Company formalized its commitment to quality by earning ISO 9002 certification, with the move to ISO 9001 occurring in 2003.

That commitment has been re-affirmed over the years and a noteworthy milestone was set in August 1997 when CBMM became the first metallurgy and mining company in the world to obtain ISO 14001 certification, fruit of the Company's voluntary implementation of an environmental management system the year before, which incorporated the sound environmental practices CBMM had implemented since the early days of its existence.

In December 2002 the Company's Worker Health and Safety Management System gained OHSAS 18001 certification, marking an important advance in ensuring the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational disease. CBMM's Information Security Management System was granted certification according to the ISO/IEC 27001 standard in May 2006. This standard allows an organization to evaluate its risk and to implement appropriate controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data.

The environmental analyses of CBMM's laboratory were approved by the Metrologic Network of Minas Gerais (Rede Metrologica de Minas Gerais), in 2008 and in 2011 the laboratory achieved ISO/IEC 17025 certification of its environmental testing as well as niobium assays.

In 2010 CBMM consolidated the integration of its Quality, Environmental, Worker Health and Safety and Information Security Management Systems into the Integrated Management System, a single structure that optimizes the organization's efficiency.
